Blanket Scarf 2 Ways and a Giveaway

Do you remember this large blanket scarf from Zara that we saw a lot of bloggers wearing this winter? It became so popular and sold out pretty quickly once it hit the blogosphere. I was one of the lucky few to snatch one up before they were all gone.  It is still one of my favorite pieces because of the versatility, the color and the coziness of this oversized winter staple.

 It's so comfy to throw over your shoulders like a poncho on cool days…. or you can wrap it and wear it off your shoulders like I did below for a different look.

There are so many creative and stylish ways to wear an oversized scarf. For more inspiration, check out my Blanket Scarf Tutorial.

That Girl With The Pom Pom's

She wore colorful girlie-girl clothes, Mary Jane's and lots of ribbons in her hair.  Her winter wardrobe was a mish-mash of loud printed jackets, furry hooded coats, tons of mittens and pom pom beanies in every color.  She was stylish before her time.  That girl was me, when we lived in New York,  until I was about 6.  When my family moved to Florida, my wardrobe became a cluster of flip flops and bikinis. Until today.

Now that I'm back in a winter wonderland in Atlanta as a grown up, I am loving the winter gear as much as that little girl did.  The trendy pom beanie being worn today, brings back happy days of playing in the snow and dressing up as a kid.  I know the pom pom mittens are a bit overboard at my age, but hey, the nostalgia from my childhood are well worth the stares.

Thanks so much for reading!

Wrap Scarf 6 Ways

Illustration A
How many ways can you wear a blanket scarf?  I can think of more than 6, but not sure that it would be considered acceptable as fashion. Here are the easiest and most comfy ways I wear mine.  I have never worn #5, but it looks cute, right?

Scarf Tutorial:

Illustration B
Look 1: Fold the scarf in half, into a triangle and wrap around like a shawl (#1, illustration A).

Look 2 : Fold the scarf in half into a triangle  and pull over your chest like a bib, see illustration B, steps 1 and 2.  Cross over behind your neck and pull the sides over each shoulder to the front and tuck behind scarf.

Look 3: Follow same steps for Look 2, but you tie both sides into a knot above the fold, see illustration B, step 3.

Illustration C
Look 4:  Take the scarf ( still a triangle) and fold inwards into a roll, see illustration C, step 1.   Drape across your neck towards the front,  illustration C, step 2.  Wrap twice around your neck and tuck sides inside to create this knot effect, remaining steps from illustration C.

Look 5: Same as Look 1, tied in a knot in the front see illustration A.

Look 6: First two steps from illustration C,  my favorite look with this type of scarf. So there you have it! Which look do you like the best?

My scarf is from ZARA.

Visions of sugar plums danced in her head...

As newbies to the Atlanta area, my hubby Bill and I are usually out on the weekends discovering new places, new roads, new everything and it's been a fun way to get acclimated in our new city.  As a blogger and amateur photographer, my mind is always in search of the perfect backdrop for my photos.  I usually take my own photos for my blog with the help of a tripod and a camera remote, so anytime I can get Bill to snap photos of me while we are out, I get super excited!

When we drove past this long stretch of landscape and curvy sidewalk, I had visions of beautiful photos with gorgeous outfits strutting down the the streets of Atlanta…I was dressed for the mall, not glamorous at all, but I asked Bill to pull over and take photos of my plum vintage swing coat (looks more wine in these pics). Really? Here? Why? he asked. It was cold and windy and we were hungry, but being the sweet man that he is, he went along with it.  As you can see, he cracks me up,  but we managed to get some "not so serious" pics of my vintage coat and a peek-a-boo of my new scarf I picked up at the mall.  I think Bill did a pretty good job under these conditions, what do you think?

What I'm wearing: Coat: Vintage // Beanie: Urban Outfitters // Sweater: Nordstrom Rack // Jeans: Loft // Booties: Lucky, TJ Maxx but similar ones here  // Bag: LV // Scarf: Zara

A Dash Of Charming...

Autumn is one of my favorite seasons.  It is a season of spice infused sweet treats, cool and cozy nights, shorter days, and changes in natures leaves. With so many tomboy fashion trends this season, which I love and am obsessed with, I thought it would be fun to curate a post with lovely ladylike things that bring romance.

Leopard in a Secret Garden

I love coming to the Leita Thompson Memorial Garden, it is the perfect place to come and spend the afternoon reading or relaxing outdoors on a beautiful day. It is also gorgeous for taking photos for my blog, so you might see this park quite a bit! Is it me, or does it look like the fountain is pouring water into my bag? Maybe it's a sign of good fortune to come...fingers crossed.

Loving Currently...

  Kate Spade tote on sale  // Fedora // Favorite coral scarf // Bunch of fresh flowers

This will be our first chilly season in Atlanta since our big move from Florida. It is still freakin' warm hot here, but fall is definitely in the air.  I am a huge comfort bug, so when I think of fall, I think soft sweaters, boots, cozy nights at home by a fire, Chai tea latte and warm baked goodness.
Zara dress // Givenchy Lipstick in Fruity Orange // Loft belt

Eventually I will do a post on our new Atlanta home, right now I am loving settling in and finding inspiration from piles of decorating books and magazines.  With each new season, follows new fashion trends.  So, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and try a new bold lip color. This Givenchy shade offers  a perfect touch of everyday glam. Not sure if I will ever wear again, but I am loving it right now.

I am obsessed with anything pumpkin during the fall, especially DD's Pumpkin flavored coffee, season scented candles and
Sea Salt Caramels to satisfy my sweet tooth cravings.

These are crazy good. Hope you are enjoying your week!

Spotted in Pleats

Feeling fun and flirty in this little spotted, pleated, with a seriously drop waist dress.  The vibrant colors mixed with dark navy make the style and cut of the dress (uhummm) age appropriate. It has been in the high 80's here in Florida, so the jacket didn't stay on very long. The day was filled with sunshine with an occasional spring breeze, just enough to poof my dress.

::Outfit Details::

Dress:  Ann Taylor Loft {recent}
Denim Jacket:  Ann Taylor Loft {old, but love this one}
Heels:  Zara, new had to have these
Bag:  Michael Kors studded satchel {really old but love it, current style here}

Mint Condition...

 This little Ann Taylor-Loft blazer has been living in the back of my closet for about 8 years. I loved it so much when I first bought it that I've held on to it. It is such a pretty shade of seafoam mint green with cream specs throughout...love.  I knew I would wear this color again someday and lucky for me, it still fits!
 As I was walking out the door I realized I didn't have a necklace on, so I ran back in and added a vintage pin on my blouse for a touch of glam.  I think it works, what do you think, with a pin or without?

Thanks for stopping by!

Monica
