DIY: Kate Spade Inspired Vase

If I had my way, we would live in a world sprinkled with pink flowers, gold, glitter and polka dots.  I'm always inspired by Kate Spade's use of these elements in their designs.  With a few simple tools, here is how I created this Kate Spade inspired vase out of a simple glass container in less than 30 minutes.

Materials needed:

 Glass container
Gold metallic spray paint made specifically for glass
Painters tape
X-acto knife

Step one:

Tape the container starting from the top all the way around. Once the stripes look perfectly straight, remove every other stripe which you will be spray painting.

Step Two:

In a well ventilated area, spray the entire container. I let it dry a few seconds before applying a second coat. Let dry for about 10 minutes before going on to the next step.

Step Three:

Once the container is dry to the touch, carefully remove the tape.

Step Four:

Gently clean up any extra paint that may have spilled over the taped areas with your exacto knife.

And that's it! Just remember to wash by hand your sprayed pieces to avoid stripping any paint off.

That Girl With The Pom Pom's

She wore colorful girlie-girl clothes, Mary Jane's and lots of ribbons in her hair.  Her winter wardrobe was a mish-mash of loud printed jackets, furry hooded coats, tons of mittens and pom pom beanies in every color.  She was stylish before her time.  That girl was me, when we lived in New York,  until I was about 6.  When my family moved to Florida, my wardrobe became a cluster of flip flops and bikinis. Until today.

Now that I'm back in a winter wonderland in Atlanta as a grown up, I am loving the winter gear as much as that little girl did.  The trendy pom beanie being worn today, brings back happy days of playing in the snow and dressing up as a kid.  I know the pom pom mittens are a bit overboard at my age, but hey, the nostalgia from my childhood are well worth the stares.

Thanks so much for reading!

What I'm wearing: Beanie: Urban Outfitters // Mittens: Joe Fresh, TJ Maxx // Sweater: Express, TJ Maxx // Buffalo check shirt: Forever 21 // Jeans: Zara // Boots: Tory Burch, similar // Bag: Kate Spade

Eat Cake For Breakfast

Hi, my name is Monica and I love cake.  I'm that girl that carries sweets in her bag, stops and smells everything in the bakery at Publix and has to have dessert with every meal.  Then complains about gaining weight or her clothes shrinking in the laundry.   Needless to say that when I saw this Kate Spade bag, it SCREAMED my name.  As a plus, these baggy boyfriend jeans perfectly hide the result of my eating cake.  Hope you lovelies are having a great week!

What I'm wearing:  Sweater: H&M // Jeans: Gap // Scarf: J.Crew Outlet // Booties: Stuart Weitzman, Nordstrom Rack //  Bag:  Kate Spade, sold-out but also love this one

Mint Condition...

This little Ann Taylor-Loft blazer has been living in the back of my closet for about 8 years. I loved it so much when I first bought it that I've held on to it. It is such a pretty shade of seafoam mint green with cream specs throughout...love.  I knew I would wear this color again someday and lucky for me, it still fits!
As I was walking out the door I realized I didn't have a necklace on, so I ran back in and added a vintage pin on my blouse for a touch of glam.  I think it works, what do you think, with a pin or without?

Think Pink...

A great way to transition your wardrobe from fall into spring is to add the bright colors that are trending right now. You can start small with a tube of pink or tangerine lip gloss and gradually add accessories. Kate Spade is my favorite spring collection at the moment. Their "Live Colorfully" campaign is is my mantra this spring.
