Subliminal Message

Old Navy T-shirt // Old Navy Denim Jacket // Loft Scuba Flare Skirt // Tory Burch Robinson Bag // Ann Taylor Shoes, old, Similar, Option // Warby Parker Banks Sunglasses // Alex and Ani Heart Wrap Bracelet

Do you ever catch yourself eyeballing the graphic on a strangers t-shirt? When my hubby wears his favorite Ramones t-shirt, it always brings out random comments from complete strangers. Luckily, they have all been positive, but it's funny how a simple graphic can bring out an emotion.

I don't usually like to draw extra attention to my chest with a graphic, because my eyes are up here...until now. Old Navy has come out with some super chic tee's for us grown ups to wear.  The best part is sending a subliminal message to B with a "Take me to Paris" tee.  Fingers crossed we go to Paris for our 30th wedding anniversary. Hmmm, I may need to stock up on this one.

DIY: Flip Flop Glam

In Florida, we wear flip flops pretty much all year round.  They are comfy and inexpensive, however  not a very glam look since they are rubber thongs after all. Valentino makes my favorite rubber bow thongs. It shows that flip flops can be very glam with simple embellishments.  I embellished my oh-so-not couture Old Navy flip flops with ribbon and vintage buttons I found at a yard sale. These took me less than 30 minutes to make, and the design possibilities are endless with a plethora of ribbons and buttons at the craft store.

Here is what you will need to create a similar look: Flip Flops, Old Navy Summer SALE is going on now // Vintage rhinestone buttons or a similar option for a lot less // Ribbon // Floral Wire

Step one: Create a bow by pinching 4 loops of ribbon, all the same size.

Step two:  Tightly wrap the wire around the center of the ribbon, leaving enough extra wire to add buttons. Trim the ribbon ends at an angle.

Step Three:  Add the buttons by threading it through the same wire that you used to wrap the center of the bow.  Twist until it's tightly secured, leaving enough wire to attach the bow to the shoe.

Attach bows to the flip flops and voila,  insta-glam!

To add a kitschy theme for the summer, I embellished this pair with lady bug buttons from the craft store ($2 for a pkg of 8 buttons). They are sweet and simple and took less than 10 minutes to make.

What you will need:  Flip Flops, on sale at Old Navy // Lady Bug buttons, Hobby Lobby $2 //  Super glue

Return Of The Romper

Romper: Loft // Bag: Old Navy, bought this tote too // Hat: Macy's // Sandals: Loft // Watch: Michael Kors // Bracelet/cuff: Francesca's, also love this one

I've been longing for Cafe Du Monde's beignets and Cafe Au Lait in New Orleans.  Bill and I have been twice before and just love NOLA! We decided to celebrate my birthday there this past weekend with some of our friends! If you haven't been, it is all about the food, the jazz and the cocktails. The history and the people add the charm.

So what is a girl to do when packing for a weekend celebration trip? SHOP.  I was excited to find the romper, this one piece little short outfit, has made it's way back as a current trend! Can I just tell you that I wore the heck out of rompers in my childhood?  They are super comfy, but a little awkward in the ladies room...hmmm, the whole thing has to come off from the top. It is so cute that I think it's worth the hassle.

This makes it all worth it:

Happily going for a stroll after our beignets through the French Quarters with a street performer.

How do you feel about the romper, yay or a nay?

Eat Cake For Breakfast

Hi, my name is Monica and I love cake.  I'm that girl that carries sweets in her bag, stops and smells everything in the bakery at Publix and has to have dessert with every meal.  Then complains about gaining weight or her clothes shrinking in the laundry.   Needless to say that when I saw this Kate Spade bag, it SCREAMED my name.  As a plus, these baggy boyfriend jeans perfectly hide the result of my eating cake.  Hope you lovelies are having a great week!

What I'm wearing:  Sweater: H&M // Jeans: Gap // Scarf: J.Crew Outlet // Booties: Stuart Weitzman, Nordstrom Rack //  Bag:  Kate Spade, sold-out but also love this one.

Black and White with Doggy Kisses...

Jacket: Michel Kors vintage leather, old but similar one here  // Top: Old Navy  // Jeans: Loft, bought in summer // Shoes: Zara // Clutch bag: Banana Republic, 40% off sale going on now // Bracelets: JCrew, Yurman // Watch: Michael Kors

Hi everyone! Hope you are having a wonderful start to your week.  We couldn't ask for better weather  in Atlanta, there is a chill in the air, the leaves are changing colors, days are getting shorter and nights are getting cozier by the fire. Alas, fall is here.  I will be wearing my white jeans all through fall and into winter.  I love white jeans tucked into boots even though I have paired them here with ladylike pointy toe shoes.  Champ decided to make an appearance and make this post more about him and less about my jeans,  so I'll give it to the little guy with his lustrous silver fur.

Vintage Boots and Ruby Woo Red Lips

Every girl must have at least one red lipstick.  I am really stepping out of my comfort zone here with red lips because I typically wear natural/coral shades. Mac's lipstick in Ruby Woo instantly perks me up on those days that I don't particularly feel like fussing with makeup. Red lips and large sunnies are perfect  for casual glam.  On another note, I found these rocking boots at a quaint vintage shop in Florida for only $50!!! I know, right? Vintage shopping or thrifting can be so rewarding when you score a great pair of shoes or boots or jewelry or heck, anything pretty that you just can't live without. Hope you are all having a great week!

What I am wearing:  Sweater jacket: Local boutique  // Jeans: Seven for  All Mankind // Boots: Vintage  //  Bag: Coach Classic Rambler // Necklace: Madewell, similar style here  // Sunglasses: Old Navy // Mac Lipstick in Ruby Woo

Leopard in a Secret Garden

I love coming to the Leita Thompson Memorial Garden, it is the perfect place to come and spend the afternoon reading or relaxing outdoors on a beautiful day. It is also gorgeous for taking photos for my blog, so you might see this park quite a bit! Is it me, or does it look like the fountain is pouring water into my bag? Maybe it's a sign of good fortune to come...fingers crossed.

What I'm wearing: Denim jacket: Loft // Top: Phillip Lim for Target  // Jeans: Zara  // Bag: Coach Rambler Legacy // Leopard smoking slippers: Loft
