Peek-a-Boo

I am really skeptical when it comes to ordering clothes online. I don't want to be disappointed if it doesn't fit me well,  or if it doesn't look as cute on me as it does on the size 00 model on the website. I think paranoid is the word I'm looking for.  I love to go into stores and try on beautiful clothes and shoes. But there are times, when you fall in love with something that is only sold online. What do you do? If you are like me, I think about it, bookmark it and revisit it a hundred times as though it was a friend.  It's like playing peek-a-boo. I have lost out on a few items doing this, because it's gone before I can make up my mind.  The struggle is real, people.

When I came across this cool mesh skirt from ASOS, only sold online, I knew I had to have it. So, I did it again.  I bookmarked it, I thought about it, I went back a few times until and there was only ONE left in stock. It happened to be one size up from my normal size, but I figured it would be better a little big on me than too small. I went ahead and ordered it.

The fit is amazing, it feels lovely and I am extremely happy with my new skirt.  So after a few more online purchases,  I have finally overcome my paranoia about online shopping.  Here is what I've learned:
  • Read the reviews from previous customers that have purchased the item you want and find out if that particular item runs small, large or true to size.  Sometimes they will tell you more about the quality.
  • If there are not many reviews and you are not sure about the fit, UPSIZE. Go up one size. I have done this twice and it has worked for me. I find that European clothes tend to run on the small side, or at least that is what I tell myself.
If all else fails, you can always send it back. Most places have free shipping both ways now, and it's always fun having a package to open as though it was a gift (at least until the bill comes).

Thanks so much for reading!

  4. Woo-Woo ! Love this outfit on you, the skirt with the heels is sexy, love it with the striped top. I will have to tell you I order 95% of my clothing on-line. I guess it is mainly I know my size, and the store's sizing. If I shop at a place I am unfamilier I will go by measurements. I know it isnt for everyone, perhaps, just go with one store first that you know what size you wear.

    Have a great weekend

  7. Girl! I know all about that struggle. I online shop most of the time since I live in Jamaica and most of the stuff here are sold for twice the price in local boutiques! I worry from the time I click purchase to when the stuff get to me! You nailed this purchase though!
Love the way you styled this look especially that added touch of polkadot- likey likey!
