ATL Locals: The Swan House

The Swan House, known to be the most photographed landmark in Atlanta, is an elegant, classically styled mansion built in 1928 for the Edward H. Inman family, heirs to a cotton brokerage fortune. It was one of many Georgia set locations used during the filming of the movie The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.  If you are a Hunger Games fan, you will get a kick out of seeing where certain scenes were filmed. My hubby and I took a guided tour of this beautiful home this past weekend and WOW the breathtaking architectural details did not disappoint.

^^Incredible architectural details designed by famed Atlanta architect Philip Trammell Shutze, provides a glimpse into the opulent lifestyle of this Atlanta family during the 1920s and 1930s.

^^The mantle in a guest room^^
^^The infamous swan table in the dining room.
^^The most romantic garden located in the back of the home.

^^The back door where guest would enter has a circular driveway.
^^Steps from the back door lead to the romantic garden.

If you are planning a visit to Atlanta or you are a local, you will want to plan an afternoon for a tour of this gorgeous landmark. You can also learn more about  the family who lived here and see more photos of the home at the Atlanta History Center

Cheers to visiting new places in 2014!!!

I love visiting historical landmarks. I often wonder what life was like while living in such opulence.

  2. What an incredible, ornate home! That looks like a really cool tour. I have read the Hunger Games books but I still need to see the movies. Loving that we got a little outfit peek here, too. :) Thanks so much for linking up again! :) -Gina
